Rooms

WHAT TIME CAN I ARRIVE?

Check-in time is 4pm. However, you can arrive at any time you wish, and luggage storage is available until your room is ready.

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE SMOKING ROOMS?

All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is also not permitted in the public areas of the hotel, in accordance with national regulations.

DO YOU HAVE ROOMS WITH SEPARATE BEDS?

All our rooms have double beds which can be separated. Please specify this when booking at contact@refugemontenvers.fr

DO THE ROOMS HAVE SAFES?

No, our rooms do not have a safe, but there is one at the reception desk where you can ask the staff to store your valuables.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD A BABY BED IN THE ROOMS?

It is possible to add a baby bed in some rooms (depending on their size), but not in the dormitories. This will be charged at 15 € per night. Please specify this when booking.

IS THE LAUNDRY PROVIDED?

Yes, bed linen, towels and toiletries are provided in all our rooms and dormitories.

CAN I BOOK A SINGLE NIGHT?

No, due to the remote location of the Refuge, we only offer packages including overnight stay, breakfast and dinner.

DO THE ROOMS HAVE SPECIAL VIEWS?

Yes, we have rooms with a Mer de Glace view and rooms with a Chamonix valley view. We cannot guarantee a view but we will note your preference when you book.

Arrival and departure

AT WHAT TIME CAN I CHECK IN?

Check in time is 4pm. However, you can arrive at any time you wish but we cannot guarantee immediate access to your room. Luggage storage is available until it is ready.

WHAT TIME DO I HAVE TO VACATE THE ROOM?

The room must be vacated by 11am at the latest. We have a luggage room if you wish to store your belongings during the day.

DO YOU OFFER EARLY CHECK IN OR LATE CHECK OUT?

No, you cannot occupy your room after 11am, nor can you be guaranteed your room early in the morning.

CAN I ARRIVE LATE IN THE EVENING?

If you plan to arrive after the last train of the day has boarded, please inform the hotel on +334 50 53 87 70.

WHICH CREDIT CARDS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept all major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Maestro.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Please read the terms and conditions carefully when booking. The policy may vary depending on the rate booked and the website you book on.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE BEST PRICES?

You will find the best deals, 10% cheaper than on online sales sites, on the Refuge's official website by booking online here.

DO YOU ACCEPT PETS?

Yes, we accept pets but only in the rooms (not in the dormitories). You must specify this when booking and you will be charged €15 per night per pet.

WHEN DO I PAY FOR MY STAY?

You pay for your stay at the check-out*. We take a credit card at the time of booking only for the guarantee. We can possibly make a pre-authorisation on your credit card of the total amount of the stay.

Unless you have booked with a virtual card or via an agency.

IS THERE A TOURIST TAX?

Yes, you will have to pay the tourist tax of 2.30 € per person over 18 years old per night at the hotel.

WHAT IS THE HOTEL'S POLICY FOR CHILDREN?

Children are considered adults and must occupy the available bedding. No extra beds are possible.

Babies from 0 to 2 years old can sleep in cots, in some rooms only (depending on size), for an extra charge of €15 per night and on request when booking.

Services

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE INTERNET ACCESS?

Yes, the hotel has Wi-Fi and high-speed internet access, both in the public areas and in the rooms.

WHAT TIME IS BREAKFAST SERVED?

Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9:30 every morning in the Refuge's restaurant.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE SPECIFIC PRODUCTS FOR BREAKFAST OR DINNER?

Yes, if you mention it when you make your reservation. We can then accommodate your allergies and intolerances (e.g. gluten-free).

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE BREAKFAST SERVED IN THE ROOM?

No, we do not offer room service for catering.

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE A LIFT?

No, the hotel does not have a lift and is not suitable for disabled guests.

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE AIR CONDITIONING?

No, the hotel does not have air conditioning. However, it does have a fireplace in winter. Due to its location at an altitude of 1913m, you should bring warm clothes and closed shoes, even in summer.

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE A LUGGAGE ROOM?

Yes, the hotel provides free luggage storage during the day.

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE A RESTAURANT?

Yes, the hotel has a Restaurant du Montenvers, which is open at lunchtime and in the evening for hotel residents on half-board basis.

It also offers 2 other catering outlets on the site:

- the ice cream bar, snack service open during the day

- the Panoramique Mer de Glace, a traditional restaurant with a 180° terrace on the glacier, open in season from April to September.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE FLOWERS OR CHOCOLATES IN THE ROOM?

Yes, it is quite possible to have what you want in your room on arrival. Please specify this when making your reservation by calling +334 50 53 88 61.

WHAT ACTIVITIES CAN WE DO AROUND THE HOTEL?

In summer you can go hiking on the northern balcony trails, or if you are specially equipped, you can go on a glacier hike on the Mer de Glace (check with the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix). You can also access climbing routes.

In winter, you can stop at the Refuge after skiing down the Vallée Blanche and you can go snowshoeing around the hotel on the trails marked out by the Mont Blanc company.

Finally, you can admire the crystals in the crystal gallery, visit the glacorium and go down into the ice cave (depending on opening hours).

CAN I OFFER AN OVERNIGHT STAY AT MONTENVERS?

Yes, you can offer an overnight stay on a half-board basis or a lunch in the hotel restaurant. You can choose and buy your package online at https://www.refugedumontenvers.com/fr/bons-cadeaux

Transport

DOES THE HOTEL HAVE A CAR PARK?

No, the hotel is located 30 minutes by train from the centre of Chamonix and is INNACCESSIBLE by car.

DOES THE HOTEL OFFER A SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM GENEVA?

No, the hotel does not offer a shuttle service from Geneva airport or train station. However, we can organise it with a partner, on request when booking at +33 4 50 53 88 61.

HOW DO I GET TO THE REFUGE FROM CHAMONIX?

From Chamonix town centre, you must take the Petit Train du Montenvers. Be sure to check the timetable (last ride at 4pm in winter). The train is also subject to weather conditions. In summer only, you can go up on foot (900m of ascent and 3 hours of walking).

HOW DO I BUY A TRAIN TICKET?

Train tickets are not included in the price of the stay, except for special packages. You can buy the train ticket at the Montenvers station, at the ticket office of the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc. You will find the timetable below: https: //www.montblancnaturalresort.com/fr/montenvers-mer-de-glace

WHAT TIME IS THE FIRST TRAIN DOWN?

The first train down in the morning leaves at 8.30am in summer and 10.30am in winter. Please check the timetable on the website https://www.montblancnaturalresort.com/fr/horaires-tarifs-montenvers-mer-de-glace

WHERE CAN I PARK MY CAR IN CHAMONIX?

Before taking the train, you can park your car in the Biollay car park or the Planards car park. These car parks are close to the Montenvers station and free of charge.
